Event Planning and Logistics Intern
If you are interested in the world of events and festivals, this may be the perfect place for you to learn and grow.
We are looking for a self-motivated and talented Intern to support our continued growth. This is a part time position with the opportunity to become more. Your main duties will include creating informative content and social media opportunities to share our company’s brand, products, and services along with providing event planning and logistical support to the team.
Responsibilities:
Learn about our products and offerings to be able to speak to clients and make appropriate recommendations on services
Manage and oversee all social media content and measure the success of every social media campaign
Collaborate on: client retention efforts, website updates, lead generation programs while using and optimizing processes and systems
Analyze social media conversations and make recommendations on social media efforts to improve content effectiveness
Contribute to the organization and preparation of all the logistical and operational aspects of events within the constraints of the budgets provided
Generate new business leads as well as foster existing customer relationships
Ensure complete customer satisfaction in a fast-paced environment
Other projects as assigned
Requirements:
Working towards your Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations or relevant field.
A minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role.
Experience creating targeted content is preferred.
Strong knowledge of communication practices and techniques.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Must be able to multitask and work well under pressure.
Excellent organizational abilities.
Advanced knowledge of Google Office Suite.
Team player who loves a challenge.
Seasonal Crew Lead
We are looking for a Seasonal Crew Leader to join our team. This is a seasonal position that will run from June through October.
The Crew Leader is key to our operation as they are the ones primarily responsible for the installation and removal of rental equipment from job sites across Vancouver Island.
Responsibilities:
Drive a company delivery truck, and lead a crew of 1-7 workers in the delivery/installation and dismantle/pickup of company-owned tenting, flooring, etc.
Liaise with customers on job sites, presenting professional, courteous company image and ensuring customer needs are being effectively addressed.
Work with other members of company’s operations team, and with all staff to promote and maintain positive workplace safety awareness and practices
Liaise with varying company team members, as needed, on job-specific information for particular project setups/removals.
Assist Leadership with planning and managing operations functional areas (warehousing, trucking, equipment maintenance, tent washing, etc.) to ensure safe, efficient maintenance, storage and movement of all rental inventory items.
Provide on-site supervision to crew members in the safe handling of company equipment and the safe installation/dismantling of tenting, flooring, etc.
Work in the warehouse on inventorying, cleaning, repairing, and efficiently storing tent-related equipment (fabric and hardware)
Identify and, where appropriate, correct workplace hazards noted and brought to your attention bycrew.
Effectively communicate any safety-related issues immediately to company management.
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in either event rental or construction industry, with at least some of it in a supervisory capacity.
Have held a class 5 or 7 (or higher) BC drivers licence in good standing for a minimum of 10 years, along with experience operating delivery trucks in both urban and rural settings. A Class 1License would be an asset.
Ability to learn quickly techniques for safely installing and removing company products and services.
In-depth knowledge of the company’s products and services including tents, flooring and other accessories.
Excellent verbal communication skills
Significant flexibility in working hours during the summer months to accommodate varied work schedule
Strong leadership skills : proven ability to supervise and motivate staff, while maintaining a strong customer-focus, even when operating under intense time pressure and workload demands.
Knowledge of British Columbia’s Health and Safety Regulatory framework, and the application of this framework to safe work practices within the company
Physical fitness for duty when working in field on tenting/flooring installation and dismantling or in warehouse in various capacities
Hourly rate will be based on previous experience.
Seasonal Event and Install Crew
At Shady Spaces we are looking for energized & motivated Labourer in the Vancouver Island area to support us throughout the Summer Season.
What you would do:
You would be part of the set up and tear down team for our festivals and events throughout the summer season. Shifts vary from day, evening and weekends depending on event bookings.
Responsibilities:
Load and unload event materials and move materials towards event areas
Set up tenting to required specifications outlined in event order
Ensure all tenting is in operating condition before use
Clean the event site from set up and take down debris
Perform other activities at event site, as directed by Event Manager
Qualifications and skills:
Must be able to lift and carry 80 pounds
Experience with knots and rigging
Willingness to work extra hours when necessary to deliver the event on time
Must have steel toe boots
Must be able to walk and/or stand 70-90% of the shift
Must have own method of transportation and legal drivers license
